Individual Responses
20) What did you like least about your distance education experience?
Response 1 | No comment |
Response 2 | n/a |
Response 3 | Interaction with your instructors and fellow students is virtual. |
Response 4 | |
Response 5 | There were no second chances if I couldn't meet a deadline. This affected my grade every much. I feel in class students have a better advantage since they have a personal relationship with the teacher and are able to talk to them face to face. I also would have liked it if my teacher included notes/highlights of what he wanted us to really know in chapters so we would have more focus and guidance. |
Response 6 | nothing |
Response 7 | |
Response 8 | While I understand the thought behind the process, I didn't really like having to go on campus for some of the tests. |
Response 9 | |
Response 10 | |
Response 11 | There seems to be a lot of variation between online courses, in regards to the functions of the website of choice. Besides the use of different websites, the differences between the courses that used Laulima caused some confusion when trying to navigate the cite. |
Response 12 | |
Response 13 | |
Response 14 | There is no face to face interaction. |
Response 15 | |
Response 16 | |
Response 17 | I didn't like depending on my own discipline. |
Response 18 | |
Response 19 | N/A |
Response 20 | I missed the face to face interaction with the instructor. |
Response 21 | It is not face-to-face with the instructor. The learning is harder because the instructor is not present. |
Response 22 | |
Response 23 | Laulima had slow internet connection a lot of the time, hindering test times that continue & don't stop. Also, was kicked off the Laulima sight a few times due to slow internet connection. |
Response 24 | Not enough other online courses available. Would like to see more degree programs available |
Response 25 | |
Response 26 | Having to have internet to do tests |
Response 27 | |
Response 28 | |
Response 29 | lack of compatibility with certain web browsers |
Response 30 | I had two online classes this semester but using two different sites: laulima and coursecompass. I perfer using course compass because of the activities that are provided while learning the chapters. And laulima has problems like logging out when taking test and submitting homework. |
Response 31 | It took a lot of time for me to do the assignments. It was not a difficult class its just time consuming. |
Response 32 | dealing with other students or engaged in mandatory team assignments with other students who did not participate but waited for other teammates to do the work so they could get the credit without effort. |
Response 33 | Did not have any problems. |
Response 34 | |
Response 35 | |
Response 36 | there was not much i disliked about my distance education experience. |
Response 37 | nothing. |
Response 38 | tuition fee |
Response 39 | |
Response 40 | |
Response 41 | Lack of interactive learning resources. |
Response 42 | That I didn't get to "know" any students in the class. As I'm on Maui, I knew this was a downside of online classes. No study groups or face-to-face interaction, even with the professor. |
Response 43 | It was difficult to understand sometimes. |
Response 44 | It's not mainland-friendly. For the students who is forced to live on the mainland, distance ed is almost impossible. |
Response 45 | |
Response 46 | N/A |
Response 47 | N/A |
Response 48 | |
Response 49 | |
Response 50 | Some teachers ask you to go on school or participate in a group work, take an exam in school. These don't support a DISTANCE education course. They make you use plenty of your time you wanted to save, just for meeting up with other people or attending activities. |
Response 51 | nothing. i enjoyed every part of it |
Response 52 | hard to concentrate with kids running around |
Response 53 | |
Response 54 | None |
Response 55 | |
Response 56 | I disliked forcing myself to understand the materials. Two of my courses did not allow EXTRA CREDIT; one course allowed it and I felt I learned more that way. I did not the like the fact that I had to wait the next day for my response from the instructor or sometimes the instructor would not even reply at all. |
Response 57 | |
Response 58 | There was a lot of lagging between task tests surveys when you go to another question. I got kicked out several times while taking a quiz. |
Response 59 | N/A |
Response 60 | n/a |
Response 61 | Some courses aren't interactive at all and everything is from the textbook. This was a World Civilization course, but the instructor required us to read a book on Islam. Rather bias in my opinion. I have taken the same professor's 151 course as well and had to read a different book on Islam for that course. |
Response 62 | |
Response 63 | The only thing I didn't really like was how the lab part made you go places all over the Island. when you don't have a car it is hard and when ride falls through last minuet and you can't get ride it affects the grade. (happened onlly twice)other than that it was a splendid experience. |
Response 64 | |
Response 65 | No comments. |
Response 66 | I wish teachers would open up modules earlier in the week or a few at a time. |
Response 67 | |
Response 68 | I felt there were more than one answer to a question and had a hard time deciding which one to use. Also, the fact that you had to have the exact word and not something very similar to it. |
Response 69 | |
Response 70 | |
Response 71 | sometimes when things were hard to understand it was hard for clarification. |
Response 72 | undecided |
Response 73 | N/A |
Response 74 | |
Response 75 | One course I took, BUSN 123, I had to take the production tests at the campus lab. That was very inconvenient. |
Response 76 | |
Response 77 | Sloooooow Grading Instructors. |
Response 78 | |
Response 79 | I did not like the fact that the quiz and tests were timed. It just made me loose concentration and i thought more about the time I had left rather than focusing on the questions and answers. |
Response 80 | Distance education is very convenient for my schedule, but I always miss the in-class experience. |
Response 81 | Nothing |
Response 82 | Not being able to meet instructor fact to face. |
Response 83 | Relationship; lack of human connection. |
Response 84 | |
Response 85 | Having to wait for assignments, quizzes & exams to be posted. I like classes that have the semester's assignments and quizzes posted at the start of the semester. That way I can work ahead when I know I have work/family obligations coming up. Sometimes it's difficult to explain questions in e-mails. I think it's also difficult for professors to explain concepts in an e-mail; Dr. Khaleghi was nice enough to call me at home to explain some questions I had on a quiz. That conversation really helped me keep the right perspective and stay on track when taking quizzes through the remainder of the course. |
Response 86 | When I signed up for a particular class, it was clearly stated that it would be a semester course. The professor chose to rush the entire course so we'd finish by Spring Break. Why bother posting how long the course is suppose to be when the professor doesn't bother to follow them? The professor also took a very long time responding back to her students. It's not like we can go and see her about it (there's a reason why we chose to take the course online). The professor needs to make time in her busy schedule to answer emails or address them in the announcements. |
Response 87 | Some online courses I've had felt like I had no teacher--just a bunch of materials I needed to read and then take the quizzes and tests. There was no interaction with others students, i had to read the lectures, and I had to figure out my own deadlines for assignments. It was not very organized and I didn't feel like the teacher was very much involved. |
Response 88 | |
Response 89 | The "group project" |
Response 90 | Sometime Laulima misbehaves. It can be frustrating, time-consuming. |
Response 91 | Do work when you have the time |
Response 92 | When professors don't use all available tools well. |
Response 93 | |
Response 94 | |
Response 95 | The professor was unavailable for a few weeks and unresponsive to all emails. Her excuse was a "personal problem" which was the interference. I have tons of personal problems getting in the way of my school work on a daily basis, but I still stick to school as my #1 priority, this professor did NOT do that. |
Response 96 | Not finding my peers online in the middle of the night. |
Response 97 | |
Response 98 | N/A |
Response 99 | The speed of Laulima. Sometimes slow. Makes me nervous when quizzes/tests are timed. |
Response 100 | Can't think of anything. |
Response 101 | |
Response 102 | Instructor not accepting doctor's note if missed a quiz or exam. |
Response 103 | |
Response 104 | Additional face to face for lab. |
Response 105 | none |
Response 106 | I prefer to be in an actual classroom after these last 3 online courses because I understand material a little bit better from listening to the instructor as opposed to just reading a book and looking at resources. |
Response 107 | |
Response 108 | |
Response 109 | I get lazy sometimes. |
Response 110 | |
Response 111 | Had a lot of reading to do |
Response 112 | |
Response 113 | |
Response 114 | |
Response 115 | |
Response 116 | I did not like the fact that my instructor is traveling on the mainland and personally not available for office hours. His office hours were online on Sunday at 8-9. |
Response 117 | I don't think I was taught. I feel I just studied by myself. |
Response 118 | The time it took to do a test. |
Response 119 | too much different web pages and websites to visit in order to do one assignment |
Response 120 | I didn't like how tests were timed. |
Response 121 | Trying to remember when assignments are due |
Response 122 | Sometimes it was hard to log-in, especially on the day an assignment was due. |
Response 123 | n/a I've taken 3 classes online and had great experiences. |
Response 124 | I know interaction with other students help improve my studying, but I'm not very active with that relation and having the grade based on it was sort of troubling |
Response 125 | |
Response 126 | |
Response 127 | having to navigate through modules, assignments, forums was difficult because many of the SAME assignments were posted in various places. |
Response 128 | |
Response 129 | |
Response 130 | some of the links in the assignments did not work. |
Response 131 | no dislikes |
Response 132 | |
Response 133 | N/A |
Response 134 | |
Response 135 | THe lack of face-to-face interaction |
Response 136 | |
Response 137 | The short amount of time on our exams. |
Response 138 | na |
Response 139 | location |
Response 140 | The professor was a bit of a scatter brain and forgot to tell the students important things several times throughout the semester. |
Response 141 | |
Response 142 | |
Response 143 | Font size on tests and some other areas are too small and not adjustable. |
Response 144 | |
Response 145 | the only thing I disliked is when my network failed during an exam - it was very distressing but the teacher was understanding and reset the exam for a 'do-over'. |
Response 146 | Instructor was not as present and available as my last DE course with another LCC professor. If questions were asked specifically to the instructor, she would respond, but she didn't give much feedback to questions that were posted by students to ensure or confirm that the answers the students were offering were correct. |
Response 147 | |
Response 148 | Having to take exam at LCC campus (distance) KCC would have been preferred but instructor said something that KCC's test center was unreliable about returning completed exams to him. |
Response 149 | nothing.. these classes are amazig for single mothers like me. |
Response 150 | Well, if you guys are talking about online classes then what i did like least about it was, not all my online classes were the same. No comment on this one...I liked my online classes. |
Response 151 | no offering in math discipline? |
Response 152 | |
Response 153 | I had to keep up with it. |
Response 154 | |
Response 155 | |
Response 156 | |
Response 157 | |
Response 158 | |
Response 159 | Having to wait for responses from certain instructors. |
Response 160 | |
Response 161 | |
Response 162 | The convenience |
Response 163 | I wish we interacted more. |
Response 164 | |
Response 165 | |
Response 166 | |
Response 167 | |
Response 168 | there really wasn't anything I didn't like. |
Response 169 | The instructor could have been clearer in her grading. |
Response 170 | I was not given credit for some assignments that I turned in, but somehow was not received by my instructor. Upon researching in Laulima the dates and times that I submitted those assignments, I informed my instructor and they researched and confirmed on their end in Laulima, and ended up giving me credit for the assignment, but towards the end of the class. |
Response 171 | No issues to report. |
Response 172 | |
Response 173 | The fast paced environment. |
Response 174 | Having to do group work was the thing that I liked least about online courses. Having to compromise and schedule a meeting can be difficult. I don't like when links are broken. |
Response 175 | Each teacher was different as far as response time goes |
Response 176 | good |
Response 177 | |
Response 178 | |
Response 179 | Depending on the professor, the grades would come in later than expected. |
Response 180 | |
Response 181 | No driving. It's better for the environment. In classes where you have to participate in a group discussion everyone has a chance to speak openly without being shy. It's nice to have the whole class participating online. Mrs. Briscoe's class is an excellent example. She teaches human development FAMR |
Response 182 | |
Response 183 | |
Response 184 | There were too many homework questions that didn't allow for enough time to complete them. Also, the set up of the homework was time consuming. |
Response 185 | |
Response 186 | |
Response 187 | |
Response 188 | |
Response 189 | |
Response 190 | |
Response 191 | tasks, tests, and surveys sometimes automatically submits essays and exams. Very frustrating when you have to write an exam all over again and get in touch with professor. |
Response 192 | I enjoy online courses, which is why I continue to take them time and time again. |
Response 193 | |
Response 194 | |
Response 195 | I find that taking a online course takes up more time than rather just going to a course on campus. On campus, you have the instructor to teach you and at home you teach yourself. |
Response 196 | |
Response 197 | |
Response 198 | purchasing book that was rarely used or information from book could have been found elsewhere. rather than making the english book a mandatory purchase, would have preferred a suggested book rather than spending money unnecessarily |
Response 199 | Nothing. Everything was self-explanitory and real simple. |
Response 200 | I couldn't ask enough questions. |
Response 201 | nothing |
Response 202 | When assignments do not get graded right away. Emails do not get answered right away |
Response 203 | Having an online class is convenient but I tend to forget about due dates because I'm not physically engaged with the instructor or students. |
Response 204 | |
Response 205 | The fact that others know when you are on the website. |
Response 206 | There is nothing I disliked about it....thus far. |
Response 207 | only when the class required outside sites other than laulima to complete assignments. ex: connect composition for english and a'o makua kamehameha schools is a very difficult site to navigate. |
Response 208 | The way some of the instructors setup laulima, it was sometimes hard to find some of the materials/ reminders. |
Response 209 | the site sometimes uploads pretty slow; mostly when using at night |
Response 210 | My MGT 121 class was not distance learning friendly due to frequent need to interact with fellow students with very different schedules and locations. |
Response 211 | |
Response 212 | miscommunications |
Response 213 | Too much peer interaction is required; constantly have to respond to other peoples posts. |
Response 214 | |
Response 215 | |
Response 216 | Sometimes technical problems occur and on one occassion, my work was not submitted on time. |
Response 217 | |
Response 218 | It would be a good idea to have instructors who are really good at setting up courses online teach other instructors how to set up their course online. Roy Kamida does a wonderful job of setting up online courses, you don't even realize you're not attending class but I've other instructors who could have used some help in delivering their course. When done well online learning is actually better than classroom because it's at the learners pace. I can review material as many times as I need without any embarrassment and if something is easy I can move on ahead. But the course needs to be set up properly and not all instructors know how to effectively deliver their course online. |
Response 219 | There isn't anything that I disliked. |
Response 220 | Laulima was intermittently down or having difficulty, which caused problems taking quizes. |
Response 221 | when my internet connection would be lost or wont work. cant upload files at times. |
Response 222 | |
Response 223 | none |
Response 224 | Nothing |
Response 225 | |
Response 226 | No person to person interaction with my instructor and my classmate |
Response 227 | |
Response 228 | n/a |
Response 229 | I did not really like online when it is past midnight because the site is slow and sometimes it just doesn't want me to log in. |
Response 230 | nothing |
Response 231 | |
Response 232 | |
Response 233 | |
Response 234 | No classroom interaction. Limited class discussions, and sometimes posts can be misread and misinterpreted from the writer's intended meaning. |
Response 235 | Not being able to access my grade sooner. |
Response 236 | |
Response 237 | Some instructors took a very long time to return assignments. |
Response 238 | Some of the text book information was a little difficult to interpret, and that is when I missed the classroom lectures. |
Response 239 | |
Response 240 | none |
Response 241 | idk |
Response 242 | |
Response 243 | The only thing i do not like about distance learning is a lack of one-on-one face time with other students and the professor |
Response 244 | |
Response 245 | i liked everything |
Response 246 | |
Response 247 | during the test - it system sometimes had a second or two delay before loading the next question. This is kind of aggrivating especially if it was a timed test. |
Response 248 | Professor Saromines-Ganne didn't respond in a timely fashion. |
Response 249 | None. |
Response 250 | There really wasn't anything I didn't like about it. |
Response 251 | What I didn't like least was that in the begining the instructor had us using a different tool besides laulima to post up our forum assignments, and I didn't like how I had to always check on more than one site example laulima and another site. |
Response 252 | Didn't quite understand navigating the powerpoint presentations; therefore missed a lot of information in the beginning |
Response 253 | |
Response 254 | |
Response 255 | nothing |
Response 256 | |
Response 257 | Some instructors were not very clear in their instructions. |
Response 258 | It was hard to motivate to log in because it was extremely boring in content |
Response 259 | Nothing, I thought it was quite well |
Response 260 | Sometimes the test/quiz feature would time-out and I would need to refresh the page; this would take time away from my test. |
Response 261 | |
Response 262 | |
Response 263 | What I like least about the distance education experience, is when the internet would mess up delivery of messages or act up during exams. |
Response 264 | N/A |
Response 265 | |
Response 266 | |
Response 267 | |
Response 268 | |
Response 269 | The assignments were not posted in one are you had to search for different things. On our home page we were instructed on our assignments most of the time. There was however one assignment posted only on the syllabus and another posted on the home page but posted in detail in some other tool on Laulima. |
Response 270 | The difficulty of learning this type of course online because to me it's a subject I should've taken in class where I could visually see what's going on. |
Response 271 | the beginning of the course screwed me over the most because I was not |
Response 272 | |
Response 273 | Having to deal with communication |
Response 274 | |
Response 275 | Overall I like distance education. The only least thing I did not like possibly if the resources are too wordy. It would be more helpful if there are live lectures or visual tutorial as if we were in a classroom setting. |
Response 276 | |
Response 277 | I only wish I could have met the other students because we experienced awesome discussions in our course of study. |
Response 278 | Sometimes it's hard to get the self-discipline to get on the computer and log on. I would always put off my class to do other things. |
Response 279 | nothing |
Response 280 | |
Response 281 | |
Response 282 | Interacting with other student, found it to be a waste of my time. Not interested in interacting with fellow students |
Response 283 | |
Response 284 | Being on a different island. |
Response 285 | |
Response 286 | |
Response 287 | |
Response 288 | Sometimes teachers wouldn't provide feedback in a timely manner but on the other hand, some teachers were there 24/7 to meet our needs. Thank you for the wonderful experience =) |
Response 289 | |
Response 290 | Time limit on tests and quizzes |
Response 291 | Comminucation wasn't always possible when you needed it. |
Response 292 | online courses sucked and my psych teacher was a bitch |
Response 293 | Sometimes my instructor took awhile to respond back to me when I really needed the assistance. However, I know she is a busy person and I got to realize that later. In class seems better, but I did good in this format. |
Response 294 | |
Response 295 | Sometimes it is unclear on what to do on an assignment. |
Response 296 | Sometimes technical difficulties in laulima cause assignments to be resubmitted. |
Response 297 | If I didn't do an assignment I couldn't make it up. |
Response 298 | I didn't have to deal with the teachers, I saved gas, and I knew exactly every assignment that needed to be done throughout the whole semester, which allowed me to work at my pace or work ahead some days. |
Response 299 | Should add a "face" picture to personalize communication. |
Response 300 | Some professors don't seem to grasp the concept that the reason for students taking online classes is because they don't have time to go to the campuses; therefore, if the professor teaches both online and on-campus courses, he or she should slightly alter the curriculum for the course because the same expectations and requirements cannot be held in an online environment. |
Response 301 | Timed assignments. Often Acquired problems when taking exams. |
Response 302 | n/a |
Response 303 | Sometimes when I paste from Word document onto the box provided,(the one you click on the Microsoft Word document and paste you copied work) it sometimes carries extra codes, but other than that the hardest part was me diligently checking my work. |
Response 304 | You have to be good on your time management |
Response 305 | that i wasn't in the class. i feel like if i was in the class i would've gotten an A grade |
Response 306 | |
Response 307 | |
Response 308 | professor would only respond to email's and didn't answer any phone calls when he put his contact info down. Other then that loved the course! |
Response 309 | great experience |
Response 310 | It seems that I have more homework/projects, etc. than I would in a live class situation (or at least check Laulima a lot to ensure I don't miss anything). |
Response 311 | n/a |
Response 312 | It was one of those classes you need to take in class, for visual learners I mean, like me. |
Response 313 | |
Response 314 | |
Response 315 | |
Response 316 | |
Response 317 | |
Response 318 | I realized later in the courses sometimes our discussions might be better if we all had interaction with my peers as well as my teacher. |
Response 319 | Some teachers in the past for DE showed a lack of commitment to teaching online. I don't know if this is due to teachers being forced to do online teaching. |
Response 320 | |
Response 321 | nothing at all, everything were good |
Response 322 | |
Response 323 | Not being able to see specifically what textbooks were needed as no photo included online. |
Response 324 | |
Response 325 | |
Response 326 | No face to face interaction with instructor and students. |
Response 327 | |
Response 328 | |
Response 329 | Taking the tests at the learning center |
Response 330 | |
Response 331 | |
Response 332 | |
Response 333 | |
Response 334 | Reading a lot. Not interacting as much. |
Response 335 | Lack of any reminders for upcoming important tasks (exams) |
Response 336 | Nothing |
Response 337 | |
Response 338 | ALEKS itself was hard due to the assessments. It did not help that it was an online course that needed my full attention towards. |
Response 339 | Not having a teacher readily available |
Response 340 | n/a |
Response 341 | Not being to interact with others in real time |
Response 342 | Some of the quizzes are too hard. |
Response 343 | Almost no instruction from instructor. However, we were encouraged to email her questions. But it was difficult to explain certain problems without speaking to her personally and showing her the computer screen. |
Response 344 | We were able to do distance learning outside of the classroom and be able to accomplish to finish our work online @ anytime. |
Response 345 | |
Response 346 | nothing, i love it, I just wish there were more classes and class subjects available. |
Response 347 | |
Response 348 | |
Response 349 | The rigid time frames when it comes to assignments. If the assignment was to be sent out before 11:55pm, at 11:55 pm when you submit the assignment laulima will not take it anymore, ergo you get a late grade and a 10% penalty. |
Response 350 | Sometimes boring |
Response 351 | |
Response 352 | |
Response 353 | |
Response 354 | A lot of my grade depended on interaction with other students and helping eachother answer questions. |
Response 355 | What i least liked about it was the quickness of contact between students and teachers. |
Response 356 | erkjf nff |
Response 357 | |
Response 358 | Not having the professor to learn from in front of a class and the interaction wth students. |
Response 359 | |
Response 360 | Impersonal |
Response 361 | |
Response 362 | |
Response 363 | |
Response 364 | Less interaction with classmates |
Response 365 | |
Response 366 | I have to check my homework everytime to see whats due. |
Response 367 | Not having someone right next to you when you have a question. Though the teachers responded to e-mail quickly. |
Response 368 | Nothing |
Response 369 | |
Response 370 | The misunderstandings on due dates for one of my classes made it very frustrating. The students were constantly correcting the teacher on his own Syllabus and due dates. I never met the teacher, but it seemed like he was not too savvy with a PC. |
Response 371 | |
Response 372 | |
Response 373 | Nothing comes to mind |
Response 374 | |
Response 375 | |
Response 376 | On exams, some were manually corrected by the teacher bec computer automatically makes it wrong even if ts right. |
Response 377 | The Forums was a bit confusing and complicated to use, I'm use to using the Discussions more. |
Response 378 | |
Response 379 | |
Response 380 | |
Response 381 | It requires lots of self-discipline. |
Response 382 | Nothing. |
Response 383 | no being able to physically meet my teachers and classmates |
Response 384 | There was one thing that I liked least, which was waiting for weeks just to receive a grade back on my assignments. It sometimes took 3-4 weeks. |
Response 385 | all test are open book |
Response 386 | Nothing in particular |
Response 387 | |
Response 388 | |

Response 391 | lots more reading then if I went to the class |
Response 392 | |
Response 393 | a few glitches while doing assignments and during tests and quizzes.overall, very good. |
Response 394 | I did not interact with the instructor in person as much as I should have (she gave many opportunities). |
Response 395 | One of my online classes required that we had to go to a testing center to take our tests. That defeats the whole purpose of having a ONLINE course. Especially when you have to work and take care of your daily house chores. That is the main reason i took online courses so i could still work and have time to do what i needed to get done in my home. |
Response 396 | N/A |
Response 397 | I least dislike that their was no online course available for a Microbiology lab that I needed (Micro 140) |
Response 398 | Nothing at the moment, all classes were self-explanatory and easy to follow. |
Response 399 | Nothing, the course was well structured and organized. |
Response 400 | he instructor's organization of information, some of it was all over the place |
Response 401 | the first exam came up very quickly. |
Response 402 | |
Response 403 | I didn't have a least favorite part. |
Response 404 | |
Response 405 | |
Response 406 | None |
Response 407 | nothing really |
Response 408 | Some instructors are not helpful |
Response 409 | Taking Exams....the system kicked me off three times and navigating between test questions took 5 minutes to take me to the next test question....this was a timed test and incredibly frustrating to have Laulima failing at the worst possible moment...during finals...this years experience has me very concerned about my next wave of online courses next fall...please fix Laulima...it seems to overload on high test days!! |
Response 410 | N/A |
Response 411 | |
Response 412 | this past semester i did not like how the books that the course required wasnt used for the course and it was just read it to read it. |
Response 413 | -i have to read on my own -it's like teaching myself -can't really get help from other students -sometimes the teacher doesn't really give the help you need |
Response 414 | It would have been nice to know what my grades were at the time the assignment was due. Not necessarily right after the assignment was due but at least with in a week or two. If that wasn't possible, maybe a midterm report on grades. |
Response 415 | N/A |
Response 416 | I like everything equally. |
Response 417 | For one of my classes, I could never get ahold of my professor. I would send messages, even emails and would never get a response until towards the end of the class. Then she was on it, responding within hours. For me I did well in my medical terminology class online. I don't know how it would have been sitting in class talking about medical vocabulary. However for my ICS class, I didn't care for it. I didn't even do my final because even at the end of the class, I still wasn't confident in my computer program knowledge. I recommend to anyone who is like me, a visual learner, or someone that likes to hear things being taught, not to take a course online. |
Response 418 | nothing it was awesme, i wish i was a little more focused though. |
Response 419 | none |
Response 420 | |
Response 421 | I didn't like not being able to retake a test once I missed the date. I had mixed up my dates one time, and I just barely missed a test. It was one mistake that I paid for the entire semester. In the end, I still ended up with an A, but it could've landed me a B. |

Response 432 | Less motivation doing homework and reading the textbook(which makes me bored)on time because of procrastinating things. But its a good thing in someways because I learned that procrastinating is really bad habit. |
Response 433 | The req outside of classroom or having to visit elsewhere. |
Response 434 | |
Response 435 | I have taken 2 DE classes so far and have had 2 completely different experiences. My first class with Mr.Porter was excellent. She was very organized and played an active role in our learning. My second class how ever seemed totally different. If someone were to take this class first, the may never take another DE class online again. Our teacher just posted our assignment at the beginning of the class and was absent for questions and explanations. Students had to email other students to try to figure out a lot of our assignments and what |
Response 436 | |
Response 437 | laulima was slow. I was sometimes just kicked out during exam so had to keep logging back in. |
Response 438 | |
Response 439 | Internet classes provide a lot of flexibility and convenience, however, you loose a lot of the interaction between students in a class setting and with your instructor. |
Response 440 | It seemed that I was being bombarded by a lot of information that had to be understood within a short period of time. |

Response 445 | It was a little harder to discipline myself to open up everyday. |
Response 446 | |
Response 447 | |
Response 448 | Sometimes waiting for a response from a teacher or, online group assignments. |
Response 449 | I had to come in to do tests for one of my courses. |
Response 450 | Some technical difficulties in some of the classes. |
Response 451 | n/a |
Response 452 | The forums. We were graded on posting. But what if we didn't have a question, or simply could not answer another student. The forum used as a grade tool did little for grading purposes other than showing that you left a message. It tanked grades even though the student knew the material. |
Response 453 | Slow upload going from tool to tool or course to course and during test/quizzes. |

Response 462 | Some instructors don't respond right away with students' email.Cannot view or know the test/exam scores on time. |
Response 463 | you have to stay on yourself, no one else can push you. Nothing to do with the course, you choose to take a course like this for the challenge. |
Response 464 | |
Response 465 | |
Response 466 | Nothing, I love LCC's instructors distance edu. |
Response 467 | |
Response 468 | I'm a working student, due to a busy schedule, at times I would forget that I had an assignment, quiz that was due and would miss the chance to complete a quiz or turn in an assignment. Because there is no interaction that you do get in a classroom setting that teachers give reminders to their students, sometimes I would run into problems of forgetting to submit something. I have a blackberry smartphone, so I have my emails set up where I can look at it through my phone. I wish there were someway that we could get email message reminders sent to our email that an assignment or quiz is coming due, that would take place like in the classroom setting that instructors would give their students. I know it is the responsibility of the student, but just thought it would be helpful for the student to have better success with getting a good grade. I'm sure others have run into this same type of problem. |
Response 469 | its not possible to pause a test and come back later to it. |
Response 470 | |
Response 471 | What I liked least about my distance education experience is the lack of regular face-to-face contact with my instructor(s) and classmates. But the benefits of having a flexible schedule by far outweighed this. |
Response 472 | |
Response 473 | i like everything with education. |
Response 474 | having the lessons to review on own in addition to the required reading and text. |

Response 485 | |
Response 486 | This was my first semester of college and knew that distance learning education is growing more and more every semester so I wanted to try it out. Either I made a mistake when choosing the instructor, or I'm just not cut out to take online classes. 1. syllabus, deadlines, assignments were disorganized 2. ABSOLUTELY no interaction from instructor 3. ABSOLUTELY no use for the 2 books we were required to buy. 4. when I emailed professor for clarification on an assignment, instead of giving me clarification, she questioned my ability to read assignment objective. What really threw me off was that the syllabus to begin with wasnt formatted and it was just ONE HUGE paragraph of dates, deadlines, descriptions and whatnot. I had to format everything myself in order to keep track of when everything was due. I feel that this teacher made it a horrible experience. |
