Response 10 Finding a good time to do my homework when I was not helping my family with my baby brother. Also having a place with no distractions was hard and also having a lot of people on the WiFi made it slow
Response 11 Keeping motivation to do and stay up to date with my assignments.
Response 12 Losing a job, not be able to get any financial help including a stimulus check. My class was very hands on as it was a textile class. I do NOT feel like myself and my classmates are getting our money's worth. We did miss out on using provided equipment and classroom space and we should be compensated for that.

Response 21 not being able to have face to face learning, with a teacher right in front of you to talk through questions to help you understand the material
Response 22 I am fortunate that 2 out of 3 instructors were amazing at moving our learning online. However, I did have one teacher that did nothing from spring break and still plans to test as if we were in school learning all this time. She did not know what she was doing and what to do. I understand that this is a trialing time however if that is the case change the curriculum. I think there should be a class to teach some instructors on how to use technology and move classes online and maybe supply them with the technologies needed. Or a classroom where teachers go in and use the technology provided by the school for their class time.
Response 23
Response 24 My biggest challenge during this disruption has to be not seeing my classmates and professor. But we made the most amazing zoom calls, and still continued through texts for study and homework. The most amazing people I’ve ever worked with is in my class!

Response 37
Response 38 My biggest challenge has been dealing with medical issues from the past four months and I am not that incline with online classes or learning. I am a very kinesthetic learner and the transition to online classes has been a challenge that I had to deliberately and patiently work through; which college doesnʻt progress at the same pace as me unfortunately. Additionally, I havenʻt got the best support at home or free of distractions that I can control, additionally being furloughed from my job has been very traumatizing as it was a very crucial support system via my mental health, my goals, and attributions into my community.
Response 39 Keeping my mental health on track with a lot on my shoulders, from school work, working from home, and keeping a balance between family members, personal time, and some type of healthy excercise.

Response 64 Not being able to separate my home from school has caused issues with my mental health at home. In my particular case, I feel as though the work load tripled, and it was hard to stay afloat. I had some thoughts of giving up with my schooling for the semester, but pushed through.
Response 65
Response 66
Response 67 i had to drop a class because my math teacher didn't know how to use zoom or laulima or even how to scan in paper apparently (she would hand write the homework sometimes and then take a photo of it). i was already failing that class and then Miss 'Rona came along and jon cena-ed us all into next week and then i was *failing* failing. I need that class to graduate, but because i've already failed so many math classes and and math 103 is only being taught by two people, i'm now behind schedule for graduation.

Response 93 Not having the motivation to continue. Feeling overwhelmed & stressed because of the pandemic. Not being in class and doing normal classwork. Things will never be the same.
Response 94 The biggest challenge has been getting my assignments turned in around the same time. Also, being able to manage time to work around my other classes. When there was in school classes, it was much easier to get my questions answered right then and there, whereas, having to wait for a response through email. The main thing I have found hard, was not having the time to complete my assignments in class. This has defeated the purpose of me taking face to face classes for a reason, especially how I set up my class schedule.
Response 95 The ability to do tasks that require a hands-on guidance. Such as my Hawaiian Hei class.
Response 96
Response 97 The biggest challenge I have faced this semester would be to have a space that is conductive to class time, studying, and taking exams.
Response 98 Disruption portion is the lack of completing my courses on this semester. This is the biggest Challenge! On top of this: the Coronavirus has caused many humans to die, this is very sad, we must be safe, and to remember there is nothing to stop this.

Response 128 Technology
Response 129 Focusing on assignment that we’re on. I’m not learning as much as before in school.
Response 130 Having an instructor that did not return work. I did not know where my grade stood or how I was progressing in the course. The instructor also did not answer Laulima messages or emails. No CES course evaluation available for this course and I have to take two more courses with this instructor in the fall. I really wanted to be able to offer my feedback so it could be utilized by the instructor next semester.
Response 131 My Electronics Technology program courses and networking class was much harder to make the leap to an online setting. Response 141 none
Response 142 Childcare for my son who has to stay home with me while I navigated how to work from home. He is usually in school and I am able to work and attend school with little to no problem.
Response 143 Making sure my internet connection is running properly, is I'll be able to access emails/assignments on a regular basis. And having to do more assignments online and the profesor not updating grade for weeks.
Response 144 Being a College Student and a Home-school Teacher due to Covid-19 Pandemic.
Response 145 The financial tension.
Response 146 Not “biggest” but minor only. Like I missed waking up 5:30 in the morning to drive going to school. Missed my classmates and teacher. I hope that HCC Palamanui will increased the number of students they’ll going to accept from 10 to 20 on Nursing Program since the number of students applying for that were increased also. In my class we have more than 10 who wants to in + on the other class also. I think that is the challenging part. So after we did our prerequisite where are the other go? That’s the hindrance of becoming “IN” the program. Hope you’ll increase the number to be accepted instead of 10 make it at least 20
Response 147 Staying motivated and aware of assignment due dates
Response 148 Having a stable internet connection at home and trying my best to not stress about how I am paying money to not receive an education.
Response 149 Nothing for Spring 2020. I appreciate the professors and staff at Pālamanui. Look forward to Fall 2020.
Response 150
Response 151 The sudden out of nowhere transition to online classes. Sitting in a classroom for almost two months and then having to switch unexpectedly made learning a lot harder. Trying to study at home when you live with a big family made it very difficult to do school work.
Response 152 My biggest challenge has been instructor, one of my instructor was unable to adapt to the transition.
Response 153 moving to online work
Response 154 1. gym closing-this was a helpful way for me to keep mental and physical health and closing the SLC made the time very difficult. 2. Teachers using different forms of communications. Some used Laulima messages, some used announcements, and some used gmail, or even remarks on a returned assignment, or a comment on the laulima discussion page. I found it difficult to check these multiple sources daily for postings. I suggest a uniform way of teachers communicating with students, like through Laulima messaging only. 3. Some teachers were impossible to make contact with. Bernhard Laurich didn't respond to emails in less than 2 weeks if at all. All of my questions about my grades and academic assessment went without a response for that class (phys.105). I found this very challenging and frustrating to continue working on assignments without knowing if I was on the right track. In summary, this was an unsuccessful online class because there was not enough teacher to student support.
Response 155 I was already online so not much has changed.
Response 156 Online classes are an unworkable option for me. I have ADHD and this semester was miserable.
Response 157 Motivating myself to continue.
Response 158 Not being able to communicate effectively with one of my professors during the semester.
Response 159 I have had major child care, transportation, power and internet issues to contend with due to the transition putting strain on my resources and solar power situation but I persevered and got it all worked out though it was expensive and challenging.
Response 160 My biggest issue has been that I got laid off of my job and was not offered any kind of compensation or my wages. Student workers legally cannot collect unemployment. So i have been left with no income. According to the UH Hilo employee website the faculty/staff were allowed 2 weeks extra paid vacation. That isn’t fair and I very disappointed in the way the university failed to take care of their student workers. Our tuition pays your salaries and helps the school functions.
Response 161 my dsl does not have sufficient bandwidth for zoom to function properly.
Response 162 Actual classroom format moves faster than on-line classes. There is a delay on the receiving end of the conversation. I found it easier to e-mail my questions to the instructors a few days in advance to discuss at the next class meeting.
Response 163 keeping up with the deadlines and asking the teachers for help
Response 164 Transitioning to online, which being in class rooms makes it difficult to catch up.
Response 165 one on one contact for better understand of some assignments
Response 166 I think for me is the online classes. The most challenging for me was making time for my studies and not to procrastinate.
Response 167 My classes were all online to begin with. So the change has not really affected me with classes. However I am still stuck in a foreign country because of the pandemic.
Response 168 Keeping up with a couple of my classes, but that may be because of finals, and not being able to see and interact with classmates sometimes.
Response 169
Response 170 Just the interactions with teachers and not being able to have a one on one.
Response 171 Stress, PTSD, anxiety triggered by economic hardships and projected budget cuts in the near future as well as the fear of my family becoming ill
Response 172 The most difficult thing for myself was the online transition, fortunately I have access to a stead internet connection and I have a computer. However I avoid online classes for the fact that I do not learn as good there. Its just something about teaching ones self that I do not get. I personally like being in class and listening to lectures. I also like the discussions we have in class and having the ability to ask the professor a question then and there. It was a hassle to email the professor regarding questions I had about the course because of the time delay between them answering and me wanting the answer.
Response 173 Transitioning from in-person to online (For both me and professor). Class work became much more challenging.
Response 174

Response 178 Staying home with kids, trying to figure out internet connection solutions, and holding and attending meetings and trying to complete assignments with inadequate internet access.
Response 179 Essays and assignments involving person interaction or going outside such as photo essays and interview related projects.
Response 180 Not have that one to one in-person contact with my professor and fellow students
Response 181 My instructor has not graded assignments that were submitted in the beginning of the semester.
Response 182 Despite growing up in a very technological society, where a lot of things are carried out through online, I have lost a HUGE chunk of motivation when classes were transitioned to online formatting.
Response 183 the dog jumping in my zoom class
Response 184 My biggest struggle was not being able to attend class face to face as well as making it difficult to do school when I have my children home with me.
Response 185 Learning on my own. I ask a lot of questions and I learn better with face to face classes. Questions can be answered quickly and effectively when having a face to face class.
Response 186
Response 187
Response 188
Response 189
Response 190 Not having a face to face class it was hard and distracting not to be able to be in a classroom because of other things at home or in life that's been challenging while you need to tune in to class.
Response 191 My biggest challenge was not being in a face to face setting like I needed.
Response 192 Focus, motivation, and some of my instructors adding more work because it went online. My grades have suffered because of all this I had all As and most of my grades are Bs
Response 193 Online classes were difficult
Response 194 Becoming a teacher for my own children, financial burdens of the bills being late and the no space for study made it very difficult for me.
Response 195 Focusing & avoiding procrastination.
Response 196
Response 197
Response 198 Trying to find the motivation to do the work when the end of the world is pending.
Response 199 My biggest challenge was that my instructor seemed to be very challenged. Just about everything was late; response to emails, announcements, grading assignments, etc. There were also many errors in the video lectures. At least one or two in every single video.
